Tryouts

Cheerleading tryouts dates for the 2018-2019 school year will be announced soon. There will be a mandatory tryout clinic held prior to final evaluations. These will both be held in Pershing Small Gym (PB130).

At the Tryout Clinic three chants and fight song will be taught. Time will be allotted for jumping, tumbling, and stunting practice. Tryout groups will be assigned.

After tryouts, a list will be posted with the new members of the squad. Then there will be a mandatory meeting for the new team.

All clinics and tryouts will be closed to the public. Both the clinic and tryout are mandatory. If you are unable to attend tryouts, please email Truman Cheerleading (trumancheerleading@gmail.com) and explain your reason for not being able to attend. If your request is approved, please attend to the requirements laid out in the Video Tryout Requirements. Please note that in-person tryouts are highly preferred to video tryouts.

All potential new cheerleaders must bring a completed Tryout Information Form and Informed Consent Form to registration at the Tryout Clinic.  All participants should wear sturdy athletic shoes, plain t-shirts (no previous cheer squad or Greek t-shirts), and comfortable shorts.

Open gyms will be announced soon. Attendance at these is not mandatory and will have no baring on tryout scores. These are a great opportunity for potential cheerleaders to stunt with and get to know current team members and coaches in an informal practice setting. Potential cheerleaders must bring an informed consent form (linked above) to participate at open gyms. Open gyms will be held in the Pershing Small Gym (PB130).

All new team members are required to attend NCA camp at the beginning of August at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, MO.
